"Big Boy" & Happy Birthday Uncle Dennis
The doctor's appointment went well today, although I still havent gotten over having to have 4 shots (again!) in my little legs. Make that my "90th percentile legs." Yup- 90th percentile (also known as an A-) I'm growing like a weed:
Weight: 17 lbs, 6 oz (90 %ile)
Height: 26.25 inches (90 %ile)
Head size: 17.25 inches (85-90 %ile)
Let's keep in mind some basics
- my infant carrier is only up to 26 inches
- 3-6 month clothes are technically for smaller dudes; i.e. OshKosh size 3/6 month clothes for up to 16lbs and 26.5 inches; Carters is up to 25 inches, and 12-18 lbs. Luckily, because i am proportional, lots of this stuff still fits me.
- I was only in the 75%tile last time, so I've grown lots!!
Afterwards Mama, Uncle Dennis and I went to the Brookside Gardens for Uncle Dennis's birthday- he turns 28 (again). We're going out for dinner with him tonite too! [JUMP TO FULL POST]

a third of a year

i am officially 4 months old today. I'm still generally pretty happy, although I still have a little bit of that acid relux stuff. I have my checkup on Tuesday, so will have more details on the weight, height, etc then. I'm pretty interactive now- making a slapping motion with my hands if I want something- it's my way of saying "pick me up" or "more milk please" or "how come LOST is a repeat again!?." I also can ride in my stroller like a "big boy," which is great especially since i may get the news on tues that i am too big for my infant carrier (too long). I can put all my weight on my legs with my moms just helping me with balance. I can also soothe myself to sleep in certain situations, especially those including white noise, like the air filter or bathroom fan or running water. I still can't roll over completely, but I'm getting there. I do great at my tummy time, and can even keep my head up with one arm while grabbing for a toy with the other. i try to hold my own bottle, and sometimes can, but usually i fling it accross the room, just for fun. i get distracted alot when i eat, which can be frustrating for my moms, but hey- i dont want to miss anything! i'm in 6-9 or even some 9-12 month clothes (mostly length) and am growing by the minute. overall, pretty good for being out in the world 4 months. 16 weeks
I'm 16 weeks today- and what a week it's been! I have been eating all the time, and when im not eating, i sleep. My moms think it is a growth spurt or that i'm fighting a cold. i dont let it get me down- i'm still generally cheerful...
today i also got to meet the easter bunny and have my picture taken. hence the fancy outfit, complete with baby oxford shirt below. anyway, i didn't fuss or cry- just gave some cute smiles and then barfed all over the bunny. everyone was quite impressed. my moms will try to scan the pic tomorrow...

A Video Voldemort is Sure to Hate*
Just in case you are wondering what I really do in my spare time...
*And Voldemort, my mommies really do listen to you. So they looked into it... "Early standing does not cause bowed legs, despite grandmother's warnings ... it's lying in the curled up fetal position all night that contributes to curled legs." - The Baby Book, William Sears M.D. et al.

Why You Should Never Take Child-Rearing Advice From the Home Depot Cashier
Here's a conversation I overheard today at the checkout line at Home Depot. We had been there for a long time, there was a long line, the cashier was taking her sweet time, and I was getting a little fussy
Cashier: Hmmm. That's why I always used a pacifier with my kids. It really helped and kept them from getting so upset.
Mama: Yeah.
Cashier: You should try it.
Mama: Oh, we have. He doesn't want it. He just spits them right out.
Cashier: Oh, put honey on it. If you put honey on it, and then just stick it in his mouth, he'll take it.
Mama: Mmm.
Cashier: No really. That's what I did for my kids and it really worked.
Mama: Ummm.
For those who don't know why this is so ridiculous (other than the Home Depot cashier butting in to our business in the first place), click here.
Oh, and we saw the movie All Aboard today, about the R Family cruises, I sooooo want to go on one (and so do my mommies!)

My New Friend Owen
Today I got up early, went to see Aunt Cindy and Lori, dropped my doggie off at the groomers (thank goodness, she was shedding way too much), drank some milk in the starbucks parking lot and then met my new friend Owen!!
Jen and Edina and my mama and I went to Owen's house in D.C.. My mommies and his mommies went to a trying-to-get-pregnant group and a now-we-are-pregnant group (where we met Edina's mommies). He is 7 weeks old and he weighs about as much as I did when I was born! I think he's really cute (and I know what cute babies look like...)

We're such good friends already that I just reached out and held his hand...

15 Weeks Already

And one thing that my moms, no matter how hard they try, cannot get me to like...

So this week has been a pretty busy one, settling into a routine with Mama now that she is home with me. Yesterday we went to Gymboree, today we slept in and took a walk, tomorrow we have a playdate at the zoo, and Friday we are meeting my new buddy Reece for lunch. I liked Gymboree alright, but it wasn't a big class. We pretty much did the same kinds of things that Mama and I can do at home, just with more structure. It looked like the older kids were having a great time, so i might go back when I am a bit older... They have a pretty big class, but there was only one other baby there for my class. Her name was Emily, and I spent about 75% of my time just looking at her and giggling and laughing. Just call me Mr. Flirt!
We think Uncle Mike gave Mommy a cold, so she hasn't been feeling all that well this week. My moms think I may have a little something, because I seemed a bit more tired and more cranky than usual today. Hope I'm not sick, and if I am, hope I get better soon!
I've come pretty far in these 15 weeks. I am about 25 and a half inches long, about 16 pounds (we think), and am developing all kinds of skills. I can grab my toy ladybug with both hands (and try to eat it, of course) if my moms dangle it over me, I can roll from my back to my side, and I am doing really well with my tummy time, even though i still don't love it. I am also very vocal, making all kinds of sounds, something that was pretty apparent to my Mama at Gymboree because Emily, an older woman at 5 months, didn't make a peep. Luckily, despite growing like a weed (a chubby weed) I am still in 3-6 month clothes and should be for at least a few more weeks, although I am growing out of my "small" size Fuzzi Bunz diapers. We ordered some mediums and I just moved up a snap on the Bum Genius. Wow. My life is getting so exciting! ;-) [JUMP TO FULL POST]

Cherry Blossoms

Today we took Uncle Dennis to the Cherry Blossom Festival downtown. It was crazy busy, and got windy at times, but I enjoyed watching the band and looking at all the trees. (But mostly, I slept).
Tomorrow we are interviewing a potential nanny for a nanny share for me- wish us luck!
