Clay had his 18 month birthday and doctor's appointment yesterday- Happy Birthday Baby! His stats were:34.5 inches tall (95 percentile)27lbs 13 oz (75th percentile)Head 49.5 cm (95th percentile)He's totally a gross motor skills kid (climbing, throwing balls, running, jumping). Cock-a-doodle-zoo means getting to the zoo before 8am for a special visit when they open the zoo early for members and give out donuts. We saw them feed the meerkats, give the tigers a blood popsicle, and try to feed an alligator. Gus's favorite part was the water misters.

Today we went to see a musical adaptation of Goodnight Moon at the Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo park. We've been hitting the playground alot (so much so that we have a surprise project in the works- more on that later)- Clay got his first swinging in. Our first Port of Call was Cabo San Lucas- we chartered a sailboat for "whale watching" with two other families. The sailboat was great, although the weather was not cooperative... it was a bit windy (though sunny), which meant we couldn't go far out to really look for the whales. On March 15 we headed out to San Diego for Clay's first cruise- an R Family cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. It was a blast! Not only was it amazing and awesome to be on a cruise specifically tailored to families like ours (with LGBT moms or dads), but it was equally wonderful to be on a vacation that had programming that was inclusive to even our youngest family members

Here's to Baby Clay, the giant baby who rolled over twice in a row today! (notably in the same spot where he rolled over a few weeks ago, but as he couldn't duplicate the feat, we think that time was a fluke) He's also figured out how to su*ck on his toes, fingers, toys, and anything else that can reach his mouth. So we both had a "dockor"'s appointment today- Clay's +/- 2 month and Gus's 2 year. We're both doing great with no major issues. Gus got some info on toilet training and a heel stick to check for lead (and hemoglobin), and Clay got a bunch of shots.
