Today

Today we went to see a musical adaptation of Goodnight Moon at the Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo park. Gus sat relatively quietly and watched in awe (with appropriate clapping) during the entire show. The kid is becoming a regular theater-goer. Clay also sat quietly and watched the singing, dancing, and the lights. (Mama's favorite part was the male tooth fairy with a sparkly dentist's outfit on. Larry the fairy.)

Today Clay also sat up all on his own - he's been able to stay sitting up and play with toys etc if placed in that position, but today he moved from lying on his tummy to sitting up, all by himself. He also almost crawled (but got a bit too excited and face-planted instead). Any day now...

Happy Belated Seven Month Birthday to Clay

How time flies!! Clay is now 7 months- and HUGE - he weighs 21 lbs (w/o clothes). He loves remote controls and trying to eat the computer cord. He also likes to eat "real" food (avocado, banana, kiwi, millet, and oatmeal so far), but still loves to nurse. He can sit up on his own and is on the very edge of crawling- he can get up on his hands and knees and rocks and rocks. He can scootch around on his belly, move backwards, and generally making not-completely-purposeful movements. Sometimes he bites his Mama's arm to wake her up in the morning, and she has bruises. He's started stealing Gus's toys, which does upset Gus a wee bit, and also has started crying if his toys are taken away. He does smile all the time and is generally mellow, unless he is tired or really hungry. Happy birthday baby boy!

Congratulations to Baby Clay, the Newly Baptized

Today Clay was baptized at St. Andrew's. Godparents Mike, Dennis, and Todd were there; godmother Tammie had to to work, but was there in spirit. Saturday we had a party to celebrate early (to avoid a conflict with Mother's day!). It threatened rain on and off, but we had a good time with family and friends.

Dutch Wonderland

[JUMP TO FULL POST]

Lancaster County and Dutch Wonderland

We had a great weekend up in Lancaster County- Gus loved all the rides at Dutch Wonderland (pictures coming soon), and just about everything about the Strasburg Railroad (above).

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites, which is very convenient, clean, and reasonably priced, and almost perfect BUT it has a serious waste issues- they have a breakfast that is included and every single thing is disposable- cups, plates, silverware, etc. Hopefully as more and more companies "go green" this kind of waste will be a thing of the past.

Cute cute boys

Clay's now an official high-chair kid! He seems to prefer being at the table with the rest of us, as opposed to in a lap or in his Exersaucer. Gus also likes having company at the table, as long as none of his things get touched...
